Depending on the manufacturer (Micro Matic, DSI) safety hooks are placed differently on the fitting. The safety hook ensures that the spears can not removed without special tools from the KEG. If the container is under pressure the spear can not jump out of the KEG, the hook in the riser prevents the rising. The spears are mostly colored, by the rivet, or the seal.
